The Center on Conscience & War provides counsel to members of the military through its work on the GI Rights Hotline.

Our toll-free number is 1-800-379-2679. It is a free, confidential 800 number staffed by trained counselors. Among the counselors on staff at CCW are Bill Galvin and J.E. McNeil.

Bill Galvin has extensive counseling experience beginning in the early 1970s during the Vietnam era. He is the author of the most recent version of the Draft Counselor's Manual, and is in the process of authoring a guide to Military Conscientious Objection.

J.E. McNeil is the executive director of the Center on Conscience & War and has been a practicing attorney for the past 25 years. She has been counseling servicemembers since 1999.

Our office is open from 9am - 6pm (EST), Monday through Friday. We check the answering machine daily and promptly respond to emails.

Here are some topics and concerns that we frequently address in our day-to-day counseling:

Appeal for Redress
from appealforredress.org: Many active duty, reserve, and guard service members are concerned about the war in Iraq and support the withdrawal of U.S. troops. The Appeal for Redress provides a way in which individual service members can appeal to their Congressional Representative and US Senators to urge an end to the U.S. military occupation.
