Active/Reserve/Guard

The Center on Conscience & War provides counsel to members of the military through its work on the GI Rights Hotline.

Our toll-free number is 800-379-2679. It is a free, confidential 800 number staffed by trained counselors.

Our office is open from 9am - 6pm (EST), Monday through Friday. We check the answering machine daily and promptly respond to emails.

Here are some topics and concerns that we frequently address in our day-to-day counseling:

  • AWOL/UA
  • Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy
  • Delayed Entry Program (DEP)
  • Medical Discharge
  • Conscientious Objection
  • Pregnancy and Parenthood Discharge

While many of the calls we get pretain to these topics, we field everything from specific to general questions regarding the rights of servicemembers, regardless of branch.

Are you considering enlisting in the Armed Forces, Navy, Marines, or Air Force?
Read CCW's advice to those considering enlistment.

Are you in the Delayed Enlistment/Entry Program (DEP) and having second thoughts?

Appeal for Redress
from appealforredress.org: Many active duty, reserve, and guard service members are concerned about the war in Iraq and support the withdrawal of U.S. troops. The Appeal for Redress provides a way in which individual service members can appeal to their Congressional Representative and US Senators to urge an end to the U.S. military occupation.
